The family of former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo is considering flying her abroad for specialised medical treatment following a shooting incident that left her injured.
She sustained gunshot wounds on Sunday, June 21, during events linked to the coronation of her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, as the new leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Sources close to the family say discussions are ongoing to transfer her abroad for advanced medical care, with the trip expected to take place later this week, subject to medical assessments and logistical arrangements.
Meanwhile, nine individuals connected to the incident, including Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, have appeared before the Adentan Circuit Court for their first court hearing in the case.
The accused persons were transported to the court under heavy police escort in a prison bus and were seen in handcuffs as they faced arraignment over their alleged involvement in the shooting.
The incident, which occurred during a high-profile gathering within the Kristo Asafo Mission, has since triggered legal proceedings and heightened public interest in the circumstances surrounding the event.
Court proceedings are expected to continue as investigations into the matter progress.
