The Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) has matriculated 586 newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic year at a ceremony held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at its Knowledge City Campus in Kokomlemle, Accra.
The ceremony formally inducted the students into the university community as they begin studies in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety Management, Project Management, and doctoral programmes.
Addressing the students, AIT President, Professor Clement K. Dzidonu, congratulated them on their admission and urged them to embrace what he described as “The Age of the Sovereign Learner.”

He noted that rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, automation, and digital transformation require graduates who are capable of independent thinking, continuous learning, innovation, and responsible leadership.
Professor Dzidonu stressed that universities should not only award degrees but also develop individuals who can think critically, solve problems creatively, adapt to change, and contribute meaningfully to society.
He reaffirmed AIT’s commitment to producing graduates who are technically competent, ethically grounded, intellectually curious, and globally competitive.
Speaking on the theme, “Preparing the Sovereign Learner for a World of Opportunity, Possibility and Difference,” he encouraged students to adopt the Opportunity–Possibility–Difference (OPD) perspective by identifying opportunities, exploring possibilities, and creating meaningful impact in their communities.
He urged the students to look beyond examinations and certificates and focus on building capability, character, and courage.

Professor Dzidonu further encouraged the matriculants to take full advantage of the opportunities available at AIT by attending lectures regularly, acting ethically, managing their time effectively, and committing themselves to lifelong learning.
According to him, success at the university would depend not only on the resources and support systems provided by AIT but also on the students’ dedication to excellence and personal development.
Delivering the matriculants’ acceptance speech, Samuel Peace Kamara expressed gratitude to the university’s leadership, faculty, and staff for the warm reception accorded to the new students.

He pledged on behalf of his colleagues to uphold the values of the university, work diligently in their studies, and strive to become responsible professionals capable of contributing positively to society.
The ceremony concluded with the formal admission of the students into the university community and a call on them to pursue excellence and contribute to national and global development.

AIT is a technology-focused private university accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to offer both campus-based and Open University undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The institution is affiliated with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for selected undergraduate programmes and the Open University Malaysia for Open University undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
