The Management of Central University says it is engaging with the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and other relevant authorities following reports that five individuals are currently in custody over an incident linked to the university’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Week celebrations.

In a statement issued on Friday, June 19, 2026, the University said it had become aware of media reports on the matter and is working to establish the facts and obtain verified information about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“At this stage, the University is engaging with NACOC and other relevant authorities to establish the facts and obtain verified information regarding the circumstances surrounding the matter,” the statement said.

Management noted that investigations are ongoing and cautioned against speculation, stressing the importance of allowing due process to take its course.

“As investigations are ongoing, Management considers it important to avoid speculation and allow the due process of the law to take its course,” it added.

The University reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, noting that discipline, responsibility, and integrity remain core values expected of all members of its community.

“Central University remains firmly committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and conducive environment for learning, while upholding the highest standards of discipline, responsibility, and integrity expected of all members of its community,” the statement said.

As a precautionary measure, Central University announced the suspension of all remaining SRC Week activities pending a review of the incident and existing event management protocols.

“As a precautionary measure and in the interest of ensuring order and safety on campus, all remaining SRC Week activities have been suspended pending a review of the circumstances surrounding the incident and existing event management protocols,” it noted.

The statement assured students, staff, parents, alumni, and the general public that the institution is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as efforts continue to verify the facts.

Management further reiterated its focus on academic excellence, character development, and the holistic growth of students.
