Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Freduah Agyemang Badu II, has called for divine and ancestral intervention as the Black Stars prepare to face Panama in their World Cup opener.
He noted that the nation is united behind the team regardless of party affiliation.
“When it comes to football in Ghana, it is not NDC, NPP, CPP, PNC and the rest. We all have interest in it, so we ask God and our ancestors to give us victory over Panama,” he said this when the Bono House of Chiefs paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama in Accra on Wednesday, June 17.
He also expressed appreciation for the involvement of national leaders in supporting the team, noting the engagement of the Vice President and praising Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for speaking to the players.
“We are glad that you sent the Veep to speak to the players. We are also grateful to Otumfuo Asantehene for speaking to the players,” he added.
His comments come as President Mahama held a Zoom call with the Black Stars technical team and players, urging them to remain focused and confident ahead of the clash.
The President assured the team of nationwide support and prayers, while the captain and head coach both expressed belief that Ghana is ready to deliver a strong performance against Panama.
