The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has unveiled the final 26-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
The squad, released on Monday, features key figures including captain Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Antoine Semenyo.
The team includes three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and eight forwards, reflecting a balanced selection aimed at strengthening Ghana’s chances in the World Cup.
Among the goalkeepers named in the squad are Hearts of Oak shot-stopper Benjamin Asare, who has continued to impress in the Ghana Premier League, alongside experienced goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi of Swiss side St. Gallen and Joseph Anang of St. Patrick’s Athletic.
The inclusion of Benjamin Asare is expected to excite local football fans, as he remains one of the few home-based players selected for the national team.
The defensive department boasts a mix of experience and youth, with Baba Rahman, Gideon Mensah and Alidu Seidu leading the backline options.
Also included are Marvin Senaya, Abdul Mumin, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, Kojo Oppong Peprah and Derrick Luckassen.
The return and continued presence of some of these defenders are expected to provide stability and depth as Ghana seeks to strengthen its defensive record in the qualifiers.
The midfield unit is headlined by Thomas Partey, who is expected to play a key role in controlling proceedings in the middle of the park.
He is joined by Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, Augustine Boakye, Caleb Yirenkyi and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, giving the coaching staff several options in both defensive and attacking midfield roles.
The inclusion of young talents alongside established internationals signals a continued effort to blend experience with youthful energy in the national team setup.
In attack, Ghana will rely on a formidable group of forwards led by Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The squad also includes Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Prince Kwabena Adu.
