President John Dramani Mahama has expressed confidence that the Black Stars of Ghana will defeat Croatia in their 2026 FIFA World Cup match on Saturday, June 27.

The President made the remarks ahead of the Black Stars’ clash with Croatia, following Ghana’s draw with England on Tuesday, June 23.

Addressing a gathering at Apam Junction as part of his ‘Resetting Ghana’ Citizen Engagement on Saturday, June 27, President Mahama said he was optimistic about Ghana’s chances and urged support for the national team.

“The waving of the Ghana flag by people here shows victory. We’re praying, God willing, today, we will defeat Croatia in the match,” he said.

The Black Stars are seeking a positive result against Croatia as they continue their campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Black Stars beat Panama in their opening match and held England to a goalless draw in their second game.

A win today will take them top of the group L and secure qualification to the next round of the competition.
