The Ghana Police Service has deployed a Special Operations Support Team to Nkwanta in the Oti Region following recent violent attacks, which have left three people dead and several others injured.

In a statement issued on Saturday, June 20, the Police said the move forms part of intensified security measures aimed at restoring calm and maintaining law and order in the area.

According to the statement, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno on Saturday, June 20, dispatched the special team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to reinforce existing security arrangements and support ongoing efforts to safeguard residents.

The deployment comes as security agencies continue investigations into the attacks, which have heightened tensions in parts of the municipality.

The Police assured residents of the continued presence and vigilance of security personnel and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement officers.

The Service also called on residents to volunteer credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and help bring those responsible for the attacks to justice.

“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring peace within the municipality,” the statement said.
