Minority: NDC has lost absolute control of governance

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has accused the government of losing control of the country’s governance, arguing that internal conflicts among government appointees are distracting attention from pressing national issues that require urgent intervention.

The criticism was made by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, during parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday, June 16, where he expressed concern over what he described as growing divisions within the government at a time when many Ghanaians are grappling with economic hardships and social challenges.

According to the Minority Leader, the government’s inability to maintain unity among its officials is undermining effective governance and preventing the administration from focusing on key issues affecting the lives of ordinary citizens.

Afenyo-Markin argued that while citizens expect government officials to work collectively towards solving national problems, reports of disagreements and internal disputes within the administration suggest a lack of coordination and focus.

“What is clear in this country today is that this government has lost control of governance. It is clear. Things are getting out of hand, and there is fighting everywhere.

“You are not working together and you are not addressing matters. Unemployment is skyrocketing and you are fighting.”

Afenyo-Markin further stressed that the rising unemployment situation demands urgent and coordinated action from all sectors of government.
