Astroturf Ghana Limited and the National Sports Authority (NSA) have explored strategies to improve football infrastructure and expand access to quality playing facilities across Ghana.

The meeting, held at the NSA headquarters in Accra on June 3, 2026, focused on preparations for upcoming FIFA competitions and the broader need to provide modern, durable and professionally constructed football pitches at the national, regional and community levels.

The Managing Director of Astroturf Ghana Limited, Prince Boateng Gyebi, expressed concern over the proliferation of poorly constructed astroturf pitches across the country, noting that substandard facilities negatively affect player development and performance.

He stressed the need for quality infrastructure to support talent identification and nurture the next generation of footballers.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of quality playing surfaces in athlete development, grassroots football, community engagement and the overall growth of Ghana’s sports sector.

The Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, underscored the importance of collaboration between public institutions and private sector stakeholders to deliver sustainable sports infrastructure that meets international standards.

“We believe every young footballer in Ghana deserves access to a safe and professionally developed playing environment. Our discussions with the National Sports Authority reaffirmed the importance of working together to expand access to quality football facilities and support the long-term development of sports in Ghana,” he said.

Both parties explored opportunities to improve football pitch quality across the country, strengthen grassroots and youth football development, promote sustainable facility management practices, encourage public-private partnerships and position Ghana to host major regional and international sporting events.

Astroturf Ghana Limited reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s sports development agenda through innovative turf solutions, technical expertise and strategic partnerships aimed at improving sporting facilities nationwide.

The company also pledged to continue working with government agencies, sporting institutions, educational facilities, local authorities and private investors to deliver world-class football pitches and recreational spaces.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr. Ampofo Ankrah presented an autographed copy of his book, The Power of Words, to the Chief Executive Officer of Astroturf Ghana Limited.

The Chief Operating Officer of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Gyamfi Kusi Awere, was also present at the meeting.
