Tricycle operators are staging a demonstration over poor conditions at the Oti Landfill site in the Ashanti Region, demanding urgent intervention to restore waste disposal operations.

The operators say they have been unable to offload refuse due to ongoing challenges at the facility, including the breakdown of equipment used for waste management.

According to reports available to Citi News, the situation has led to the accumulation of refuse, with heaps of waste lining the Kaase-Kuwait stretch leading to the Oti Landfill site.

Several tricycle operators have been stranded for days as they attempt to dispose of waste, but are unable to do so due to the operational difficulties at the landfill.

The development has worsened sanitation concerns in the area, with residents and commuters expressing worry over the growing piles of refuse and the environmental risks posed by the situation.

The operators insist that the challenges must be addressed urgently to restore normal waste disposal services and prevent further deterioration of sanitation conditions in the city.
