The Upper East Region is set from today, June 29 to July 1 develop an ambitious 10-year development blueprint aimed at positioning the region to capitalize on emerging economic opportunities while addressing challenges associated with mining, youth unemployment, regional trade changes, and major infrastructure investments.
The three-day stakeholder forum is organised by the Regional Coordinating Council with support from Citi FM and Channel One TV, to validate the draft framework and provide an opportunity for citizens, traditional authorities, development partners, academia, the private sector, and civil society organisations to contribute to its final design.
Speaking with Citi News, the Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, said the initiative has become necessary because of the rapid socio-economic changes taking place across the region.
Once completed, the PEARL Framework will serve as the Upper East Region’s principal development strategy over the next decade, guiding public investment, private sector participation, and development partnerships aimed at promoting enterprise, agriculture, infrastructure development, industrialisation, and sustainable livelihoods.
