The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three individuals during an overnight anti-drug operation targeting a suspected cannabis production and storage hub in the Volta Region.
In a Facebook post on Monday, June 22, NACOC said its tactical operations team acted on credible intelligence to carry out a coordinated raid at Koleonu, Wegbe, and Akplamafu, where the suspects were allegedly involved in the cultivation, processing, and distribution of cannabis and hashish oil.
According to NACOC the exercise forms part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking syndicates across the country and disrupt supply chains linked to narcotics production and distribution.
“Acting on credible intelligence, NACOC’s tactical operations team launched an intensive all-night raid on a stash house believed to be a key centre for the cultivation, processing, and distribution of cannabis and hashish oil in the area,” the statement said.
The suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations, as authorities work to identify additional collaborators and trace wider networks connected to the operation.
They are expected to be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking, warning that individuals involved in the illicit drug trade will continue to face sustained enforcement action.
