Traders and residents at Tesano Gardens Junction, near the Healing Jesus Campaign Office, are calling for urgent road safety interventions following yet another fatal crash at what they describe as an accident-prone intersection.

Speaking to Citi News on Monday, June 15, residents said crashes occur almost every week at the junction. The latest incident, which occurred on Friday, June 12, claimed the life of a motorcyclist following a collision with a saloon car.

The residents fear more lives could be lost if authorities fail to install traffic lights, speed ramps, or other traffic-calming measures at the intersection.

A resident, Ernestina Fiave, said the recent accident had heightened concerns among people living and working in the area.

“There was a terrible accident which led to the death of one person. The driver of a saloon car knocked down a motorcyclist, and he died. We are appealing for a speed ramp to be constructed here,” she said.

Another resident said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

“The motor rider was not wearing a helmet, and the saloon car ran over him. Bystanders delayed in taking him to the hospital for treatment. We were informed on Saturday that he had died,” the resident said.

A third resident urged motorists to exercise greater caution when using the road.

“We are calling on drivers to slow down when approaching this junction. Accidents happen here frequently, and it is becoming very worrying,” the resident said.

The residents are appealing to the relevant authorities to take immediate action to improve safety at the junction and prevent further loss of life.
