The Minister for Roads and Highways, Govern Kwame Agbodza has embarked on another phase of his nationwide inspection tour, with a focus on assessing the progress of major road projects in the Eastern, Volta and Oti regions.

The latest exercise forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to monitor ongoing road works, ensure contractors meet project timelines and improve the quality of road infrastructure across the country.

Among the projects scheduled for inspection are the rehabilitation of the Atimpoku–Asikuma Junction road corridor, repairs on the Asikuma Junction–Have road, the reconstruction of the Have–Hohoe stretch, and rehabilitation works on the Hohoe–Jasikan–Nkwanta–Dambai corridor.

The tour follows similar inspections undertaken in other parts of the country, during which the Minister warned contractors against abandoning project sites or delivering substandard work.

Previous inspections also resulted in the replacement of some contractors whose performance was found to be unsatisfactory, while others were cautioned to accelerate work or risk having their contracts terminated.

As part of efforts to strengthen public oversight of road projects, the Minister has also encouraged residents to report abandoned or delayed road works by sharing videos and photographs on social media or submitting them directly to the Ministry.

According to the Minister, such public feedback will complement the Ministry’s monitoring efforts and help ensure contractors remain on site and execute projects in line with agreed standards and timelines.

The nationwide inspection exercise forms part of the government’s broader agenda to improve road infrastructure, enhance contractor accountability and ensure value for money in the execution of public road projects.
