Your Excellency,
I write to commend your commitment to resetting Ghana and steering our nation towards a better future. We appreciate the progress made in reducing inflation to single digits, a significant economic achievement that deserves recognition.
However, the daily realities faced by ordinary Ghanaians suggest that much more needs to be done. Economic stability should go hand in hand with visible improvements in the lives of the people.
Across the country, many Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) are unable to execute planned development projects because budgeted funds are not released on time. As a result, critical infrastructure continues to deteriorate, especially our roads.
The poor condition of roads has become a national concern. Vehicles are breaking down more frequently, transport operators are struggling to stay in business, and commuters spend hours every day waiting for vehicles to and from work. Thousands of productive hours are lost daily, while families bear the increasing cost of transportation and vehicle maintenance.
Equally worrying is the fact that the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines, purchased with public funds and distributed to the MMDAs, remain idle in many districts due to the lack of operational funding. Operators are owed allowances, and communities continue to suffer from roads that could otherwise be rehabilitated.
Your Excellency, I respectfully ask: What is the real benefit of withholding development funds in the name of controlling inflation if the result is deteriorating infrastructure, reduced productivity, and hardship for citizens? Have we considered the economic value of the countless hours lost by commuters every day because our roads remain in poor condition?
I also respectfully urge you to assess the performance of agencies responsible for our road infrastructure, including the Department of Feeder Roads, the Department of Urban Roads, and the Ghana Highway Authority. Ghanaians deserve to see measurable improvements that reflect the resources invested in these institutions.
Mr. President, you have expressed your desire to serve as President of the African Union. Many Ghanaians would take pride in seeing one of our own lead the continent. However, lasting leadership begins at home. Successfully addressing the pressing challenges facing Ghana today will strengthen your legacy and inspire confidence across Africa.
Your overwhelming electoral victory reflected the trust and hope Ghanaians placed in your promise to reset the nation. I respectfully appeal to you to ensure that development funds are released promptly, road projects are prioritised, and public institutions are held accountable for delivering results.
May God continue to grant you wisdom, strength, and good health as you lead our beloved nation.
