Six people have been arrested in Kumasi as the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) intensifies its crackdown on sanitation offences through a renewed enforcement operation across the metropolis.
The arrests were made during an ongoing sanitation exercise launched in the Dichemso Electoral Area as part of efforts to enforce strict compliance with environmental health and sanitation regulations.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned before court in accordance with the law.
The operation, led by KMA sanitation officers with support from military personnel, saw enforcement teams patrol sections of the community to identify and apprehend offenders.
Several shops were also closed after inspections found them operating under insanitary conditions in violation of sanitation and public health regulations.
