President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the Akatsi North District Police Headquarters at Ave Dakpa in the Volta Region, urging police officers to take ownership of the facility by ensuring it is properly maintained.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Mahama said the building should remain in excellent condition years after its inauguration through the collective efforts of officers stationed there.
“I hope that the police officers will have a high sense of maintenance so that five years’ time when I come back, this District Police Headquarters will still be looking the same as we commissioned it today,” he said.

The President encouraged officers to cultivate a strong maintenance culture, saying preserving the new facility was a shared responsibility that would ensure it continues to serve the district effectively for years to come.
“Don’t wait for James Gunu (Volta Regional Minister) to come and paint it. If it is looking dirty, you yourselves contribute. Paint is not expensive, so that it continues to look as new as we commissioned it today,” he stressed.
