Several members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have gathered at the Kasoa Divisional Police Command following the arrest of the party’s Zongo Ward organiser.

The arrest follows the organiser’s involvement in the locking of the party’s constituency office in protest against the suspension of the constituency chairman, Stephen Ofosu Agyare.

Awudu Gewah of the Zongo Ward was among NDC members who opposed the swearing-in of the party’s constituency vice chairman, Alhaji Ousman Abdullah, last week following the suspension of the chairman.

Sources available to Citi News indicate that the police invited and subsequently arrested him after a complaint was filed by Awutu Senya East Member of Parliament (MP), Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor.

Speaking to Citi News, the NDC’s Awutu Senya East Constituency Secretary, Michael Kese Oteng-Pabi, expressed concern about what he described as the growing number of arrests involving party members and called for calm.

“We are all members of the same party, so if somebody has said something you don’t like, you inform us. We call the person, we discuss it, and resolve the matter. Do we have to come to the police station and do what we are doing?” he said.
