The Municipal Chief Executive for Yendi, Sugri Muniru, has commended the management of Channel One TV and Citi FM for initiating the Northern Business Fair, describing it as a transformative platform for showcasing the economic potential of Northern Ghana.
According to him, the annual trade exhibition has become an important avenue for promoting local businesses, attracting investment, and highlighting the region’s untapped opportunities.
Speaking to Citi News, He said the Northern Business Fair has created a ready market for value-added products produced in Northern Ghana, many of which previously received little national attention.
He noted that the initiative has helped expose indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs to wider markets, enabling them to build valuable networks and expand their operations.
“Within this zone, 80% of the people are farmers and so we are thinking of doing value addition so that it wouldn’t only be the sale of raw materials and raw food from the farm-gate but value addition so we can match up with the international market. Fairs like this create a marketing platform for businesses and ideas which have not been exposed,” he said.
The Yendi MCE further stated that the fair is contributing to changing perceptions about Northern Ghana by demonstrating that the region is not only rich in agricultural resources but also has enormous potential in manufacturing, agribusiness, tourism, and innovation.
He encouraged businesses across the five northern regions to take advantage of the platform to showcase their products and services, while urging investors to explore the vast economic opportunities the region offers.
Mr. Muniru reaffirmed the Yendi Municipal Assembly’s support for the Northern Business Fair, expressing confidence that the initiative will continue to drive economic growth and position Northern Ghana as a major destination for trade and investment.
The Northern Business Fair 2026 will feature businesses showcasing products and services across sectors including agriculture, food processing, fashion, cosmetics, technology, financial services, handicrafts, and household products.
Organisers say the event will provide a platform for businesses to connect with consumers, investors, and potential partners while promoting entrepreneurship and economic growth in Northern Ghana.
The fair is powered by Channel One TV with support from Citi FM and sponsored by Ecobank, the National Petroleum Authority, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), and Northshore Apparel Ghana Ltd.
