A youth strategist and a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Okai Mintah, has officially declared his intention to contest the party’s National Youth Organiser position, pledging decisive action and tangible opportunities for the party’s young members.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 2, Mintah described the NDC as more than just a political party, calling it his true home, not a stepping stone.
He highlighted his long-standing commitment to the party, saying he has worked tirelessly from the grassroots to the national level to strengthen both the NDC and its Youth Wing.
Currently serving as Chairperson of the National Youth Working Committee and Head of Operations for the National Youth Wing Campaign 2024, Mintah said he played a key role in mobilising Ghana’s youth into a formidable force that helped propel President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC to victory.
According to him, the role of National Youth Organiser requires full-time dedication and unwavering advocacy.
“The National Youth Organiser must firmly and relentlessly push our appointees to create real opportunities for the NDC youth base,” he said.
“That work is not a part-time duty or a ceremonial title. It must be a relentless crusade.”
Mintah also outlined a vision that clearly separates party and government responsibilities, arguing that government appointees should focus on implementing the President’s agenda. In contrast, party officers concentrate on serving the grassroots.
To achieve this, he pledged to establish a Correspondence Desk to receive complaints, concerns and requests from the party’s youth base, ensuring that no genuine issue goes unaddressed.
He further promised to deepen engagement with university campuses, the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), and youth structures across the country.
Mintah also vowed to advocate strongly for opportunities for young people who worked tirelessly to secure the party’s electoral victory.
“The surest way to win the 2028 election is to fight for opportunities for the very youth who toiled during the campaign. They stood with us, and now we must deliver for them. Winning the 2028 election starts now. The future belongs to those who prepare for it today,” he said.
He appealed to party members to support his bid when nominations officially open.
“Together, we will continue to build the NDC Youth Wing into a machinery defined by efficiency, innovation, influence and sustainability,” he stated.
Mintah’s declaration comes as the NDC prepares for its internal elections.
