Pupils still lack desks despite new classroom block at Sasabi KKMA School

Pupils of Sasabi KKMA Community School in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality continue to face learning challenges despite the construction of a new classroom block by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

For years, the school grappled with inadequate infrastructure that negatively affected teaching and learning. The Church’s intervention has brought renewed hope to pupils, teachers and the community by providing a modern and more conducive learning environment.

Despite the infrastructure improvement, several challenges remain.

Many of the newly completed classrooms are without desks, forcing some pupils to improvise during lessons. School authorities say the shortage of furniture continues to hamper effective teaching and learning.

The school also lacks laboratory equipment, making it difficult for students to undertake practical science lessons and gain hands-on experience.

Teachers say although the new classroom block has significantly improved the school’s infrastructure, the absence of essential teaching and learning resources threatens to limit its full impact.

They are therefore appealing to the government, corporate organisations, non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to support the school with desks and laboratory equipment to enhance teaching and learning.

As the new academic year approaches, the school community remains hopeful that these challenges will be addressed.

For the pupils of Sasabi KKMA Community School, the immediate needs are basic but essential: desks to sit on, a fully equipped science laboratory, and the resources needed to learn in a safe and supportive environment.
