The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mampong, Yakubu Issifu, has disclosed that reconstruction works on the collapsed Sataso Bridge in the Ashanti Region are expected to be completed between August and September 2026.
Speaking in an interview with Citi News on Tuesday, July 7, Mr. Issifu said efforts are being intensified to ensure the project is completed on schedule to reduce the difficulties faced by residents and commuters following the collapse of the bridge on June 10, 2026.
According to him, although the situation has not significantly affected the Mampong Municipality compared to the Ejura/Sekyedumase Municipality, both assemblies are working closely together to find a lasting solution to the challenge.
Mr. Issifu explained that the Assembly has also taken steps to improve access through alternative routes to minimise disruptions caused by the collapsed bridge.
He said the Kofiase–Aframso road has been reshaped to serve as an alternative route, particularly in the event that heavy rains affect the current temporary diversion being used by motorists.
“… it means that the rain this time around will stop a little bit. We are praying and hoping that the contractor will take this advantage and then just double up his work. Maybe by August and into September everything will be done,” he said.
The Sataso Bridge serves as a critical link connecting Mampong, Ejura, Atebubu-Amantin, Yeji and several adjoining communities.
Its collapse has disrupted vehicular movement and affected the transportation of goods, impacting traders, commuters and farmers who rely on the route for their daily activities
