The Savannah Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, popularly known as Professor Kalamonia, has officially declared his intention to seek re-election, promising to unite the party and lead it to victory in the 2028 general elections.

In a July 14 declaration to delegates and party faithful in the Savannah Region, Professor Kalamonia said his decision to seek another term was driven by the need to continue the work he began during his current tenure.

Reflecting on his first term, he said he had fulfilled the promises he made to party members by providing dedicated leadership, maintaining an open-door policy, supporting members during difficult times and facilitating employment opportunities.

He noted that his campaign for re-election would be anchored on a four-point agenda comprising Unity of Purpose, Efficient Service, Empowerment and Victory, which he believes will reposition the party for electoral success in 2028.

Touching on the party’s electoral prospects, Professor Kalamonia acknowledged that the NPP lost two of the three parliamentary seats it held in the Savannah Region during the 2024 general election but expressed confidence that the party would bounce back stronger.

He pledged to retain the Damongo parliamentary seat, reclaim the lost constituencies and secure additional seats while delivering an overwhelming presidential vote for the NPP’s 2028 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
