The Technical University Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) has defended its decision to embark on an industrial action on Monday, July 20, 2026.
The strike seeks to protest delays in the payment of a One-Time Research Allowance and issues surrounding the implementation of an agreed interim allowance.
Speaking to Citi News, TUSAAG President Stanley Akamiri Abopaam described the extent of delay as unacceptable
“We agreed that the allowances would be paid effective 1st of April and so we have been waiting in anticipation that that money would be paid to us, only for them to say they will pay it in July,” he said.
According to the association’s President, all attempts to engage the Ministry of Education and other relevant stakeholders have yielded no favourable outcome.
“I cannot be very sure if it’s deliberate or a functional hitch or procedural lapse. What is of particular interest to us is that under the circumstance we want our monies paid,” he stressed.
He further stated that even though he is aware that embarking on the action will affect critical administrative processes in schools, they have been left with no option.
“We have borne the heat since 2014 for One-Time Research Allowance, and we have survived. In as much as we are not excited doing this and in the knowledge of the pain that the system suffers, it is only proper that the system also acknowledges the pain we also suffer,” he added.
