Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to review all development authorities if elected.

Speaking during a media engagement in Bolgatanga to wrap up his tour of the Upper East Region, Mr. Mahama emphasised the need for a thorough reassessment of the Coastal, Middle Belt, and Northern Development Authorities.

These authorities were established by the government to drive development across the 275 constituencies in Ghana.

However, he expressed concerns about their effectiveness in fulfilling their mandates.

Mr. Mahama revealed his commitment to more strategic and focused development initiatives aimed at addressing poverty more effectively.

The flagbearer criticised the current government’s handling of the $1 billion Pwalugu Dam development project, citing concerns about funding and implementation.

He noted that $12 million was paid for no work done, resulting in financial loss to the state.  Mr. Mahama has pledged to continue the project if elected, ensuring accountability for the financial loss incurred.
