Interior Minister Henry Quartey has assured that the government is fully committed to ensuring that the upcoming December 7 polls will be conducted in a manner that is free, fair, and transparent.

In an interaction with journalists in Accra, Henry Quartey highlighted the government’s resolve to uphold Ghana’s democratic credentials.

He expressed confidence that Ghana’s reputation as a stable democracy will remain untarnished during and after the elections.

According to the Interior Minister, the government is not only focused on facilitating a smooth electoral process but also on safeguarding the peace and security of the nation during the upcoming polls.

He further made it clear that the government is prepared to resist any attempts by political entities or individuals to disrupt the peace or cause unrest during the elections.

“As an Interior Minister, upon the instructions of President [Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo], we are saying that we will ensure that these elections will be free, fair and transparent.

“And there shall be a peaceful transition of power. However, we will not sit and allow people to take the law into their own hands.”
