Voters register: NDC has no moral right to protest against EC – Ahiagbah

Richard Ahiagbah, Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for what he perceives as a contradictory stance on the Electoral Commission (EC).

This critique comes in response to the NDC’s recent concerns about the voter register and its nationwide protest against the EC.

In an interview on Face to Face on Channel One TV, Ahiagbah highlighted that the NDC had previously been a staunch defender of the commission.

“Everything they (NDC) are saying today they were against it. They were defending spiritedly the EC, led by the flagbearer, the former president John Dramani Mahama, their general secretary now National Chairman of the party, every one of them in 2016, 2012 they were defending the EC very spiritedly,” Ahiagbah stated.

He argued that the NDC’s current actions contradict their past statements and undermine their credibility.

“So everything they are on the streets trying to canvass against or for themselves their utterances negate their actions then. So they don’t have the moral capacity if they want to be honest,” he added.

Ahiagbah also referenced a principle established by former President Mahama, which emphasised allowing the EC to perform its duties without interference.

“The principle former president Mahama established for us is to say that allow the EC to do their job. So why is that principle not applicable today?” he questioned.
