Election 2024: CPP is a viable alternative for Ghanaians – Sarpong Kumankumah

Nana Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong Kumankumah, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) presidential candidate, has launched a scathing critique of the Akufo-Addo administration’s handling of Ghana’s economy.

She pointed out that the prices of basic goods and services have skyrocketed, using the example of a single finger of local bananas now costing GHC2.

She indicated that this stark illustration highlights ordinary Ghanaians’ struggles in making ends meet.

In her criticism, Nana Akosua differentiated the CPP’s economic vision from the current government, emphasizing the need for economic reform.

Nana Akosua positioned the CPP as a viable alternative for Ghanaians seeking change in the 2024 elections.

“All you have to do is look around you, look at your life and where you are. Everything, access to, I can’t even say it, it’s surprising. Have you been to the market of late? Have you tried buying even ordinary bananas on the streets? One finger of the local banana is GHC2. The point is that everything is wrong. The economy, economy that is all it is,” She said.

When asked how she intends to solve the ailing economy, she outlined her plan to tackle Ghana’s economic woes by focusing on the micro economy.

She emphasized that while Ghana’s performance indicators may impress the international community, they don’t accurately reflect the daily struggles of its citizens.

To address this disparity, Kumankumah pledged to implement policies that directly benefit ordinary Ghanaians, such as affordable housing and access to potable water.

“It’s simple, it’s not rocket science. It’s nothing that you really need. I will be talking about the micro because the macro is what they have been using to deceive us all this time. They come in there, take our GDP and manage it properly and they say oh it’s good governance. Then they tell you whatever is going up is good [inflation].

“Meanwhile, the micro economy which is the problem is what I’m going to fix. Unlike other parts of the world that say that Ghana is doing well based on indicators, we don’t eat indicators. We’re talking about our living standards, what we do today, access to accommodation, how much am I paying for electricity. How much is your transport in comparison with your salary?”

The Convention People’s Party presidential candidate vowed to stabilize the Ghanaian cedi if elected.

She urged citizens to reject the incumbent New Patriotic Party government and vote overwhelmingly for her in the upcoming December polls.
