A Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana’s Department of Economics, Dr. Priscilla Twumasi, expects the recent National Economic Dialogue to significantly shape government policies and programmes.
The two-day event, held on March 3 and 4, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre, convened experts, policymakers, academics, traditional leaders, and private sector representatives.
Discussions focused on sustainable macroeconomic stability, economic transformation, infrastructure development, structural reforms, private sector-led growth, governance improvements, and anti-corruption efforts.
In an interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Channel One TV, Dr. Twumasi expressed optimism about the dialogue’s impact. “It’s been great, I think it’s been a lovely experience, great discussions, insightful outcomes and so, we expect that whatever conclusions that will come out of here, hopefully it would have a bearing on government plans and policies in the future.”
The government reaffirmed its commitment to structural reforms and private sector-driven growth, pledging to implement key policy recommendations from the 2025 National Economic Dialogue.
Speaking at the closing session on March 4, Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the Mahama administration’s dedication to fostering economic growth and delivering tangible relief to businesses and citizens alike.
The forum’s outcomes are expected to mark the start of economic revitalization, enhancing business opportunities and improving living conditions across the country.
