A historic foundation stone laying ceremony has been held for the construction of Ghana’s first-ever Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Police Church.
The facility, located at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra, will serve as a spiritual haven for SDA members within the Ghana Police Service and is expected to be completed within 18 months at a projected cost of GHS 4.5 million.

The initiative follows the induction of the first SDA pastor into the Police Chaplaincy in 2023; a milestone that underscored the growing diversity and inclusivity within the police’s religious support structures.

The Ghana Police Administration, recognising the need to cater to the spiritual welfare of its Adventist officers and recruits, allocated land within the training school for the project.

Chaplain-General of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Very Rev. Fr. George Arthur, affirmed the Service’s commitment to the holistic well-being of its personnel, noting that official approval for the church’s construction had already been granted. He expressed optimism about its timely completion and future impact.

President of the Southern Ghana Union Conference of the SDA Church, Pastor Dr. Thomas Techie Ocran, praised the Ghana Police for its openness and called on Adventist members and the wider public to support the project financially.

He emphasised the importance of spiritual resilience among service personnel, particularly given the mental and emotional demands of their roles.
ASP Samuel Danso Marfo, Pastor of the Police Depot SDA Church and project lead, said the new facility will not only provide a dedicated space for worship but also serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for police recruits, officers and the broader community.

The church is expected to enhance spiritual support within the Police Service and strengthen collaboration between religious institutions and national security agencies in promoting discipline, morale and community well-being.
