The United States government has reaffirmed its commitment to welcoming Ghanaians who wish to study, invest, or conduct business in the U.S. while cautioning applicants to strictly adhere to immigration laws.
In a public advisory, the U.S. Embassy urged prospective travelers to avoid illegal entry, visa fraud, and unauthorised employment, warning that such actions carry serious legal consequences.
“It is essential for all applicants to comply with U.S. laws. Any attempts to enter the United States illegally, falsify information for a visa, work without proper authorisation, or overstay a visa will incur significant penalties,” the statement said.
The Embassy also discouraged the use of so-called “fixers” or visa consultants, emphasising that visa applications can be completed independently through the official website at no extra cost.
“You do not need the services of a fixer or visa consultant to apply for a U.S. visa. “No fixer or consultant can guarantee a visa. Any such promises are deceptive and intended to defraud you,” the statement noted.
The advisory forms part of ongoing efforts to combat visa scams and ensure transparency in the application process.
The U.S. government continues to promote lawful travel and bilateral cooperation, especially in education and business sectors.
