The National Council of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight government officials and military personnel on August 6, 2025.
In a heartfelt statement, the AGI said it was “shocked and distraught” by the monumental loss of what it described as eight gallant men who died in the line of duty to Ghana.
Among the deceased was Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who the AGI remembered as a visionary and collaborative leader.
Reflecting on a recent engagement with Dr. Mohammed at the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST) in May, the AGI recalled his enthusiasm for the upcoming Ghana Industrial Summit and Exhibition (GISE) and Science and Technology Fair, planned in collaboration with MEST.
“His perspective on climate change and carbon trading was phenomenal. He showed a strong interest in potential collaborations with the AGI to promote a circular economy,” the Council noted.
The AGI extended its condolences to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, the Armed Forces, and all those affected by the tragedy.
“As the AGI joins the nation in mourning, we extend our sympathies and heartfelt commiserations to their families, colleagues, the Government of Ghana and all who were privileged to have known and admired them”.
“In this time of profound loss, may we all find strength in knowing that their valor and commitment have made an enduring impact on our nation. May their devotion to public service and the call of duty, inspire us all to give our best for God and country”, the statement added.
