The Ghana Police Service has arrested Prince Aboagye, a 38-year-old branch organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Agona West Constituency of the Central Region, for allegedly making offensive and defamatory comments about former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on social media.
The arrest follows the circulation of a video in which Aboagye is alleged to have made serious accusations against Dr Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general election.
In the video, the suspect is alleged to have accused Dr Bawumia of murder, theft, and engaging in extramarital affairs with married women.
The Police have confirmed that Aboagye is in custody, with investigations into the matter ongoing.
Alex Asiedu, the Agona West Constituency Chairman, also confirmed the arrest, stating that Aboagye was invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra over the alleged misconduct.
