The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation has handed over a two-bedroom apartment to St. Louis Senior High School in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region to help address the school’s long-standing staff accommodation challenges.
The facility, funded by Ghana Gas and constructed by Living Grace Ltd., was officially handed over to the school on Monday, November 10, 2025.
With a student population of over 5,500 and 229 teaching staff, only 30 teachers currently live on campus — a situation that has made supervision and after-hours support for students difficult. The new apartment is expected to ease this pressure and enhance the overall learning environment.
Speaking to Citi News at the commissioning, the Board Chair of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, who also serves as Otumfuo Hiahene, highlighted the urgent need for more teacher accommodation.

“As we heard from the headmistress, they have about 5,500 students and 229 teaching staff, but only 30 are on campus, so there is a big disparity between teachers and students on campus that need to be supervised and assisted in many ways,” he said.
He explained that the new building would house four additional teachers, describing it as a step in the right direction but not yet enough. “We are anticipating that, at some point, at least 50% of the teachers will be on campus,” he added.
Nana Hiahene expressed appreciation to Ghana Gas for its partnership and revealed that the foundation plans to complete a third floor of the building to provide even more accommodation for teachers. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining the facility.

“Maintenance is very important. We are seeing a beautiful building today, but we don’t want to come back a year from now to see it falling apart. If something goes wrong, it should be reported immediately, and everything must be well cared for,” he urged.
The Headmistress of St. Louis SHS, Mrs. Ama Kyerewaa Brefo, expressed gratitude to the foundation for its support, describing the project as a major relief for staff.

“We will forever be thankful for your thoughtfulness, care, and visionary leadership,” she said, while appealing for more housing facilities to further ease teachers’ accommodation difficulties.
The project forms part of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s vision to improve education by providing teachers and students with conducive learning and living environments across the Ashanti Region.
