The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has criticised former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, following remarks in which he described the party as “fake.”

Mr. Ahiagbah faulted Prof. Frimpong-Boateng for bypassing the party’s internal structures and airing his grievances publicly through the media.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, speaking on Point of View on Channel One TV, hosted by Bernard Avle, described the NPP as a “fake party” and said he no longer recognised the current leadership.

Responding on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, January 17, Mr. Ahiagbah argued that Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s actions were contrary to the NPP Constitution.

“Prof. Frimpong-Boateng had the opportunity to deal with this matter internally. But by not exhausting or dealing with this matter internally and going out there to kind of introduce that subject is contrary to our Constitution,” he said.

Mr. Ahiagbah warned that failure to enforce party rules could result in what he described as “chaos.”

Meanwhile, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng has stated that he has no intention of leaving the NPP, despite the party initiating expulsion proceedings against him over his recent public comments.

The former minister has also indicated that he will not honour any invitation to appear before the party’s National Executive Committee or its Disciplinary Committee.
