The Okpelor Sowah Din Family of Teshie has called for the immediate removal of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Krowor Constituency Chairman, Benjamin Kwame Danso, from the Lands Commission Board over alleged interference in a land ownership dispute.

According to the family, Mr. Danso is playing a role in what they describe as the forceful alteration of ownership of a parcel of land at East Legon, Trasacco, in favour of the Nungua Stool, despite an existing Supreme Court ruling on the matter.

The family cited Supreme Court ruling J4/10/2019, which they say confirmed that only 62 acres of the disputed land belong to Top Kings Properties.

However, they accused Mr. Danso of manipulating the judgment to expand the land size to 466 acres, contrary to the court’s decision.

Addressing journalists in Accra, the family’s spokesperson, Clement Thompson, criticised the Lands Commission Board and described the alleged actions as an abuse of power and a conflict of interest.

“We appeal to the President to remove Benjamin Kwame Danso from the Lands Commission Board. It is a clear conflict of interest. He has forged a Supreme Court judgment at the Lands Commission, and we have made this clear to the public,” he said.

Mr. Thompson further revealed that the family has submitted several petitions to the Executive Secretary and the Chairperson of the Lands Commission, calling for Mr. Danso’s removal from the Board.

“We have sent numerous petitions to the Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission and the Chairperson of the Commission, insisting that Kwame Danso should not be allowed to serve on the Board. We are once again appealing to the President of this country to intervene,” he added.

The family has called on state authorities to take immediate steps to address the matter and ensure that the Supreme Court ruling is respected.
