Aggrey Memorial SHS denies Police claim of assault on ADISCO Student

The Headmistress of Aggrey Memorial A.M.E Zion Senior High School (SHS), Dorothy Adentwi-Hayford, has described as false a police statement alleging that students at the school assaulted a student of Adisadel College.

The Ghana Police Service, in a statement dated February 24, 2026, said six students of Aggrey Memorial SHS were alleged to have assaulted Rexford Owusu-Ansah, a final-year student of Adisadel College in the Central Region.

According to the police, the incident occurred after the final day of an inter-colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The alleged attackers were also said to have taken the victim’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH¢1,400 in cash, and his shoes.

However, in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, Mrs Adentwi-Hayford said checks conducted by the school indicated that the Adisadel student did not lodge any complaint at the Kotokuraba Police Station, alleging an attack by students of Aggrey Memorial SHS.

She stated that none of the six students mentioned had been arrested by the police and that no student at the school had been formally accused of assaulting the Adisadel student.

Mrs Adentwi-Hayford reaffirmed the school’s commitment to discipline and ethical conduct, stating that the management would cooperate fully with the authorities to establish the facts.

She rejected what she described as unfounded allegations that had tarnished the school’s reputation.

Mr. Francis Boakye, the Global Vice President of the Aggrey Memorial Old Students’ Association (AMOSA), at a press briefing on Tuesday, March 3, corroborated the headmistress’s position.

He called on the police to review their statement and provide further clarification in the interest of fairness and justice.

Mr. Boakye urged the school authorities to furnish the police with any available information on reports of assault involving any Aggrey student to ensure a comprehensive resolution of the matter.

“AMOSA remains committed to upholding the rule of law, protecting the welfare of students and supporting a fair and evidence-based resolution of the matter,” he said.
