The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has affirmed that all outstanding debts on the Accra Tema Motorway expansion project have been fully settled, urging contractors to accelerate work and ensure timely completion.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, March 31, during an on-site inspection of the ongoing works, Mr Agbodza reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the project and called on all contractors to coordinate closely with utility agencies, including the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Water Limited, for a successful relocation.

“It seems that many of our major projects face challenges in relocating services, particularly electricity and water. The good news is that, as of now, all outstanding payments have been settled.

“We do not have any pending certificates for this project. It is important that you and the consultant work with the subcontractors to bring them back on site, since whatever was due to them has already been settled,” he said.

Governs Agbodza commended the contractors for the work achieved so far, assuring them of continued government support to meet project deadlines.

Responding, the project manager for the Accra Tema Motorway expansion project, Engineer Ben Sackey, reaffirmed the team’s commitment to completing the contract within the agreed timeframe, which is set for August 2, 2027.

The Tema Motorway,  a critical urban transport hub, has faced delays in previous months due to service relocation challenges, but the government’s intervention in settling debts is expected to accelerate its completion.
