The Circuit Court in Bekwai has sentenced two men both 19-years to 25 and 30 years imprisonment for armed robbery, while a third suspect pleaded not guilty on Friday April 10, 2026.

The presiding judge, His Honor Isaac Appiatu convicted Rashid Adams alias Rich Buddy, a tricycle rider to 25 years, while Godfred Ampadu alias Akata/Drip Lord, a car decorator, received 30 years.

The third suspect, Dominic Naazie alias Savage, a gold refiner, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

The three had been formerly charged in relation to a robbery that occurred on April 3, 2026, at Asonkore-Obuasi, involving gold and cash valued at GH¢2,290,000.00.

Presenting the charges in court, the Ashanti South Regional Court officer who doubles as the Public Relations Officer, ASP Lloyd Baidoo stated that the three were charged with three counts of robbery.

On count one, he stated that, they were charged with conspiracy to commit crime, namely robbery, contrary to Sections 23(1) and 149 under the Criminal Offences Act 1960(Act 29) noting that Adams, Ampadu, and Naazie, on April 3, 2026, at about 6:30pm at Asonkore-Obuasi, allegedly agreed and acted together with common purpose to commit robbery.

He added that, on count two contrary to Section 149 of the same act, Adams and Ampadu, on April 3, 2026, at about 6:30pm at Asonkore-Obuasi, allegedly robbed Abdul Malik Yahaya of GH¢540,000.00 in cash and gold valued at GH¢1,750,000.00, totaling GH¢2,290,000.00.

While on count three which states; Abetment of Crime, namely Robbery, contrary to Sections 20 and 149 of Act 29, he revealed that Naazie, on April 3, 2026, at about 6:30pm at Asonkore-Obuasi, allegedly instigated Adams and Ampadu to commit the robbery.

The court has however adjourned the trial of Dominic Naazie to April 24, 2026.
