The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has urged the Western Regional House of Chiefs to maintain peace and unity to attract its fair share of national development.
The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle made the call when the House honoured him for his mediatory role in restoring peace, after years of being unable to elect its leadership due to protracted disputes.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Armah-Kofi Buah, while expressing gratitude to the chiefs for the honour, said his greatest reward would be to see sustained unity among them to help drive development in the region.
“Every time there is division in our region, we lose the match. Don’t tell me that you have too many resources, it doesn’t work like that. If you do not unite to claim your proper place, nobody will claim it for you.
“Nananom, I am so honoured but I want to take the opportunity of this honour you have given me and plead again. We need unity and that unity starts from this House. If our chiefs are not spending their money in court everyday, we will be so better off,” he said.
