President John Dramani Mahama has announced that individuals cited in the Auditor-General’s reports will now be prosecuted in newly established High Courts, as part of efforts to strengthen accountability in public financial management.

Speaking at this year’s May Day celebration in Koforidua, the President expressed appreciation to the Chief Justice and the Judiciary for the creation of additional High Courts, describing it as a significant step towards improving the justice delivery system.

“I want to thank the Chief Justice and the Judiciary for setting up the newly created additional High Courts.”

He explained that the new courts will specifically handle cases involving persons indicted in Auditor-General’s reports, complementing existing accountability measures.

“From this year, persons indicted in the Auditor General’s report will be prosecuted in these new courts, in addition to the Auditor General’s power of disallowance and surcharge,” he said.
