Human resource practitioners have been urged to embrace open-door leadership styles that foster trust, encourage effective communication, and strengthen employee engagement in the workplace.
The Human Resource Manager of Citi FM and Channel One TV, Jennifer Anane-Nsiah, said accessible and responsive leadership is critical to building productive work environments and nurturing positive relationships between management and employees.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 2026 Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM) Conference in Accra on Wednesday, June 10, Anane-Nsiah encouraged HR professionals to remain approachable and actively engage employees to better understand and address workplace concerns.
She also highlighted the importance of continuous professional development, urging practitioners to pursue relevant training and certifications to enhance professionalism, credibility, and standards within the human resource management profession.
According to her, discussions at this year’s conference have underscored the growing need for regulation and professional accreditation within the HR sector.
“Day one has been insightful and, as has been emphasised, anyone who wants to practise HR in Ghana must go through CIHRM. I believe that will significantly improve HR practice and ensure that people are not simply doing their own thing, but rather operating within a regulated professional framework,” she stated.
Anane-Nsiah expressed confidence that the institute’s efforts to regulate the profession would help standardise HR practice across the country and strengthen the role of human resource management in organisational growth and development.
