A fire outbreak during Sunday’s downpour in Kumasi has destroyed a popular unisex boutique, reducing its contents to ashes.

The blaze gutted the Asokwa branch of Eddie K Boutique, with all items in the shop destroyed.

The fire, which reportedly started at about 7:30 p.m., occurred amid the rains on June 14.

Although the exact cause remains unknown, nearby shop owners and residents suspect power fluctuations experienced during the downpour may have triggered the incident.

Residents and bystanders initially attempted to contain the fire using fire extinguishers, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service later arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa, Amo Kamel, who visited the scene to support the response efforts, commended the fire officers for their swift intervention.

According to him, the timely response of the firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to adjoining shops and causing further damage.
