The Ghana Police Service has arrested six suspects in connection with two separate armed robbery incidents involving the theft of fertiliser and food items from warehouses in Kpone and Tema Community One.
The suspects — identified as Akala Kudus, Shaibu Dauda, Abdul Rahman Moro, Giya Hudu, Razak Seidu and Francis Ayinsabga — were picked up during intelligence-led operations conducted on June 16, 2026.
According to a statement from the Tema Regional Police Command on Friday, June 19, investigations revealed that on May 25, 2026, a group of armed men attacked a security guard at a fertiliser warehouse in Kpone and stole 751 bags of 50-kilogram organic fertiliser, valued at GH¢431,825.
In a separate incident on June 14, 2026, another group of armed robbers reportedly overpowered security personnel at the Mummy’s Recipe Warehouse at Tema Community One and made away with about 2,000 bags of Aaba rice and other food products.
The police said sustained intelligence-led investigations led officers to warehouses within the Tema enclave, where some of the stolen goods were traced and recovered. A total of 717 bags of Aaba rice believed to be part of the stolen items and 600 bags of fertiliser suspected to have been taken from the Kpone warehouse were retrieved.
The recovered items have since been secured as exhibits to support ongoing investigations and possible prosecution.
The Command added that the suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to arrest other accomplices and recover the remaining stolen items.
The police also urged businesses to strengthen security at their premises and encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities to help prevent crime in communities.
