The third roundtable discussion of the Citi Business Festival 2026 comes off today, Thursday, June 25, 2026 and will focus on Ghana’s automotive assembly industry and its role in driving industrialisation, job creation and long-term economic growth.
Held under the theme “Driving Ghana Forward: The State of the Automotive Assembly Industry and Its Contribution to the Economy,” the session will bring together policymakers, industry executives and key stakeholders to assess the progress of Ghana’s automotive sector and chart a path for future growth.
It is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Channel One TV and will be streamed live on all Citi FM and Channel One TV social media platforms.
Ghana is seeking to position itself as a regional automotive manufacturing hub, leveraging the Ghana Automotive Development Policy and the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Therefore, key discussions will centre on access to financing, supply chain development, local content participation and measures needed to sustain investor confidence in the sector.
In addition, this particular Roundtable Discussion is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to identify policy priorities and investment opportunities capable of accelerating the development of Ghana’s automotive assembly industry and enhancing its contribution to national economic growth.
Speaking ahead of the event, General Manager of Citi FM and Channel One Television, Bernard Avle, said “the industry believes there is a lot more that needs to be done for them, particularly when it comes to tax incentives to keep them here.”
“A few years ago, the government introduced the Ghana Automotive Development Policy, which attracted about seven or eight companies to establish vehicle assembly plants in Ghana. The idea was to industrialise using the capabilities developed through assembling these vehicles,” he added.
Panellists include Salem Kalmoni, CEO, Japan Motors; Eugene T. Sangmortey, Ghana Jet Team Lead; Jeffrey Oppong Peprah, CEO, Volkswagen Ghana and Prof. Ebo Turkson, Economist, University of Ghana.

The Citi Business Festival has become one of Ghana’s leading business advocacy and thought-leadership platforms, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs to discuss critical issues shaping the country’s economic future.
The 2026 edition is powered by 97.3 Citi FM and Channel One Television in partnership with Absa Bank Ghana and sponsored by Absa Bank Ghana, MTN Ghana, Zonda Tec Ghana Limited and Petra Trust.
