The Paramount Chief of the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim, has donated relief items to support more than 1000 people displaced by the recent floods at Samreboi in the Western Region.
The donation, made in response to appeals for assistance, included 100 bags of rice, 50 student mattresses, 25 boxes of canned fish, and 25 packs of toiletries.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Paramount Chief, the Divisional Chief of Nkwanta Kesse, Nana Ntori Bonkyi, expressed sympathy to the affected families and urged those responsible for distributing the items to do so fairly and transparently to ensure that all victims benefit from the support.
“His Majesty made this gesture in support of the victims, and it is therefore important that the items are delivered directly to the intended beneficiaries.
“We also appeal to recipients to show appreciation and refrain from making unfounded allegations against those overseeing the distribution,” he said
The flooding occurred after the Samre and Tano rivers overflowed following heavy rainfall in the area, inundating several communities, displacing residents, and causing significant property damage.
