The Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly has deployed the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to trim trees along major roads in the municipality following incidents of falling trees during the rainy season.

The exercise is aimed at preventing further disruptions to traffic flow and ensuring the safety of motorists and pedestrians.

Speaking with Citi News on Friday, June 26, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Adamu Musah Kalamu, said that the Assembly decided after recording three cases of neem trees falling, along the Darkuman-Nyamekye High Street and the Kwashieman-Odorkor High Street, where several old trees have been identified.

“We realised that during this rainy season, we have experienced about three of our neem trees falling. So, we have charged the NADMO Coordinator and his team to make sure we trim all our neem trees along these stretches,” he said.

Musah Kalamu added that the Assembly is also working to clear branches and other debris from the roads, following some delays caused by challenges with its trucks.

He assured residents that the affected areas would be cleared by Saturday.

The MCE further disclosed that the Assembly has acquired three chainsaws to support regular tree maintenance, adding that some trees that have outlived their usefulness may be removed and replanted.
