The Ghana School of Law (GSL) has postponed two examinations scheduled for Monday, June 29, 2026, following heavy rains and flooding in parts of Accra.
In an updated notice issued by the school’s management and signed by the Registrar of the Ghana School of Law, Mrs. Juliet Mavis Adu-Adjei, students were informed that the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Ghana Legal System examinations have been rescheduled on the instructions of the Chair of the Independent Examinations Committee (IEC).
According to the notice, both examinations will now be written on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The examination venues remain unchanged.
Management explained that the decision was taken in the interest of the safety and well-being of students and other stakeholders affected by the adverse weather conditions.
The school expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and thanked students for their understanding, patience, and cooperation.
The School had earlier delayed the start of the examinations after heavy rainfall and flooding affected parts of Accra, assuring students that no one would be penalised for being unable to reach the examination centre.
In a notice to students on June 29, 2026, the school’s management said the decision was taken after closely monitoring weather conditions for two hours and consulting the Chair of the Independent Examinations Committee (IEC).
“Your safety is our highest priority. No student should risk their life or personal safety by attempting to travel through heavy rain or floodwaters to the Examination Centre,” the statement said.
Management stressed that students would not be disadvantaged by the disruption.
“No student will be disadvantaged. Students will not be penalized or disadvantaged in any way with respect to today’s examinations due to this Act of God,” it said.
The school said examinations would not begin until it was safe for students to travel to the examination centre.
“Examinations will not commence until it is safe to travel. The start of any examination today will be delayed until conditions are considered safe for students to make their way to the Examination Centre,” the statement said.
It added that if examinations were held later in the day, adequate time would be allowed after the rains and flooding had subsided to enable students to travel safely.
The Ghana School of Law urged students to continue monitoring their official email, telephone messages, WhatsApp and the school’s official website and social media platforms for updates on the revised examination schedule.
The announcement comes as heavy overnight rainfall caused widespread flooding across parts of Accra, disrupting traffic and prompting public safety warnings from authorities, including calls for residents to remain indoors where possible.
