The University of Ghana has suspended lectures and urged students to remain indoors following heavy rains and flooding across parts of Accra.
In an urgent safety notice issued on Monday, June 29, the university advised students to stay wherever they are, whether in their halls of residence, at home or at their current location, until the weather conditions improve.
The notice cautioned students against attempting to travel to campus for lectures, citing the risks posed by the flooding.
“Stay indoors wherever you are now; in your hall, at home or current location. Do not attempt to come for lectures or travel until the rains and flooding subside,” the notice stated.
The university also announced that all lectures have been suspended until the situation improves.
The notice, signed by the Director of the Academic Affairs Directorate (AAD), urged students to prioritise their safety as authorities continue to monitor the impact of the heavy rains across the capital.
“KEEP SAFE!” the statement concluded.
