A Member of Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports and MP for Asutifi North, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, has called for a comprehensive audit of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) operations following Ghana’s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His call comes amid growing public and media discussions over the future of the GFA leadership, with some stakeholders demanding changes within the Association after the Black Stars’ campaign at the tournament.

Speaking to Citi News, the Asutifi North MP said the concerns raised by football fans, media personalities and other stakeholders require a detailed assessment of the operations of the country’s football governing body.

He urged government and relevant authorities to initiate an audit to identify challenges affecting the development and performance of the national team.

“I agree with the discourse on various social media platforms and having listened to some commentaries by media personalities and the coach, I think there is the need for an audit into what went on prior to the World Cup and even during the World Cup so that we can ascertain the real issues that need to be addressed,” he said.

The call for an audit follows comments from Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz after Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, where he emphasised the need to strengthen the structures supporting the national team.

Queiroz argued that Ghana’s football ambitions could only be achieved through improved planning, better preparation and sustained investment in player development beyond match-day performances.

The Portuguese tactician stressed that building a successful national team requires attention to the systems and institutions responsible for developing and supporting football in the country.
